    Soleus LX140
We have hand-me-down this unit to air condition a room without central HVAC. It has worked very well. We will be testing its ability to exhilaration this area this winter.....and I suspect it will work great.
    Bad Dummy Bad Choice
We have this section now and it has been a nightmare. We brought this unit only to recieve a unit that was not working properly. The unit's ceremony gave out error codes and started shutting off after a few hours. I contacted the customer fund and was told the unit was defective and to return it from where we purchased the unit. I called the company and they were slightly nice about it. They gave me a RMA number and sent out another unit. We recieved the new unit a week later unpacked it and installed it within the hour it indoors only to find out that this unit was dead on arrival. I called the company and complained and they told me when they recieved the other two units back they would send a third piece. We now have the third unit and we spent more time mopping the floor than anything. I do not reccommend this machine or any products from this coterie. The odds of getting two bad machines are bad enough let alone three. This company really gives portable air conditioners a bad name.
    Soleus transportable
Rather much does what it is advertised to do. I solved the drain pan problem by tubing it out the wall in a permanent trend with a combination of tygon tubing and aluminum tubing so that it will self drain.
    First-rate I've owned
Before buying a lightweight air conditioner, it helps to understand what you can expect and not expect from it. There is no way it will provide the cooling of central air, ductless air or even a definitely good window unit. I have owned all of these and speak from experience. However, when you move into a condo with all kinds of restrictions about what can be obvious from the exterior or constraints on the architectural structure, then the portable is the best answer.

I have owned 4 of these and three exceptional brands. My condo has three separate major spaces, 2 smaller for bedroom set and office/den. The main living space is larger than the max recommended for any 120 volt section, and that is where I now have the Soleus LX140.

The two smaller spaces are cooled with GE 10,000 BTU units that I have had for 5 years. HE quit making these units the year after I bought them They are dormant and have held up and keep the spaces in the upper 70s when the ambient temperature is in the mid 90s.

I used to have and Edgestar in the main lapse. I live in the Seattle area so only need the cooling about 2 months a year, and then not every day. The Edgestar was the worst segment I have ever owned. It was the noisiest unit and it quit in the middle of the second season. I called the maker in Texas and they said it only had a 90 day warranty. They also said they had no service reps in the Pacific NW and couldn't arrogate. After lengthy searching, I found one person who said they fixed them. After spending over $300, it still didn't exertion. The service tech said he would take it to the shop and return it in "New Condition." That was a year ago and I have never seen him or the element again.

So I bought the Soleus. I found a dealer in Portland where I knew I could get to if needed. The manufacturer is in California, I can get there tolerably easily too. Also, the Soleus has a 1 year warranty. I ordered the unit and it was delivered in 7 days. I set it up instanter but found that you had to use the remote to turn on the fan oscillator. It had to be the receiver or the transmitter, but I didn't know how to tell. I called the merchant, and within a few hours I got a call back from the manufacturer. They said they would send a new remote. If it still didn't work, they would send a description and an RMA. I got the remote in three days and everything worked.

The Soleus runs about 10 db quieter than the Edgstar. My electric cable living space is oversizrd with 594 square feet and with partial cathedral ceilings giving about 5565 cubic feet. I am on the top level, facing southwest with ceiling to floor glass across the entire space. Without any AC, the space has reached 110 degrees when it was 95 case in the late afternoon. Also, there are no opening windows or sliding doors, so I am venting the unit up the fire appropriate flu.

This week we had three days in the 90's. When it reached 98 degrees outside, the Soleus maintained the lacuna at 81. When the temperature reached 85 today, the Soleus maintained the space in the mid 70s.

CONS: The only con I have at this nitty-gritty is that the fan oscillation is vertical instead of side to side. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for that. Cold air settles and hot air rises so a continual upward blast that oscillated die to side makes better sense to me. My GEs do that very effectively.

As for evaporation, I have had it constant for fiv continuous days without a drop of water coming from the drain. Of course the Seattle extent has relatively low dew points. In areas like the midwest, east coast or south east, there may be more of a puzzle.

The next test will be longevity as to how long it will hold up. However, at this time, the Soleus LX140 has proven to be the choicest unit of its type that I have used and I am very impressed with the technical service assistance of the manufacturer.
    not again

Authoritative air conditioner that takes care of an open living area
I am very light-hearted with this unit.

To be clear, I have used just the fan and the airconditioning features so far. I have not yet used just the dehumidifier nor the range.

I have the unit in living area that is a little under 500 square feet, but that is also open to the dining chamber, kitchen, and bathroom, as well as the stairs going up to the 2nd floor. If I go to the point in the kitchen farthest from this piece, I can still easily detect it's cooling influence.

I have it parked inches from the window it exhausts out of and pulls in compressor cooling air through. Because this window is so restricted, I had to do a little fancy footwork to get the adapters to fit. I cut the double adapter in two, and have the two pieces pared down and taped one on top of the other. (BTW, the adapters are a alike of cake to cut through if even all you have is a PVC hand saw.)

I am located in CT, and it has been even more humid this summer than usual. Yet, I have not experienced this terrible leaking I've decipher some complaints about. I haven't had to drain anything. I do get some condensation around the vents, but that's really it.

In any case, I've been very happy with this piece. I'm happy with its cooling capacity. I look forward to testing it's heating abilities.
    Omit Unit
Works Lofty, I received this unit and it does the job, COLD / HOT, just couldn't ask for anything better, the remote contain is simple to use, if your worried about it arriving in one piece let me tell you the packaging is the best I've ever seen, I even ordered a encourage one for another room, if your looking for a portable unit that does the job, then this is the one, you'd be crazy to buy anything else.
    Soleus PH4-13-R1 Adroit Air Conditioner
I purchased this portion for cooling my bedroom. The room is approx 500 Sq ft with vaulted ceilings. The unit was uncomplicated to setup, install in window with dual hoses and insulation covers. I am really on top of the world with unit so far, it has reduced the temp in bedroom from 89-90 without unit to a cool 74. I have not had any problems at all with constituent.
    A leaking lots of junk
I purchased this item in July 2008 and I have had nothing but problems with it. The Soleus support line is always busy, and when you do get someone, they look for an fit and never call back. My front panel to control the unit does not work, and I have tried to get Soleus to replace the panel, with no stroke of luck. I have to use the remote control to use the A/C. Around 2 years of service, and the unit started leaking water. It appears the outflow line for the unit is not placed far enough back, and so the water pan just drips out of the unit, right onto the destroy. You can pay to have the unit shipped back and repaired they said, but the minimum charge is $150 plus shipping charges. Don't spoil your money!
THIS IS A DUAL HOSE Piece!!!!
I differ with the previous 2 review scores. I also live in NYC, the basement studio apt of a brownstone. When I first moved in 2 years ago, the owners let me keep the dehumidifier that they kept down here because they admitted that it get's sticky with the lack of air circulation. My 3 horizontal slider windows are adjacent and small (3'x2'), and they are all bent on the same wall at the front of the studio. So, the air is terrible. There is also no radiators for heating. It's hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and muggy always (but it is very spacious & has a huge walk in closet & a separate ventilated laundry room... with the value it's worth it :P) I ordered this unit because it was the only dual hose ac/dehumidifier/heater that was ideal for me (the Whynter models' hoses were too big for my window font and you had to remove the 2nd hose in dehumid mode, and the Sunpentown models were too pricey for the BTU's). I didn't even recall this model was sold by Amazon, I found out about doing a bing search, Soleus didn't even have this original on the website, which led me back to Amazon. It had everthing I wanted at the right price, but the reviews stalled my impulses. After further analyse I found that SoleusAir doesn't even have this exact model on the website for some odd reason, but it has the models below it, the PH4-12R-01 & PH4-10R-01. All the PH4 models are dual hose. I binged the archetype number, and all the other online stores that sold it advertised as dual hose. It isn't advertised on Amazon as such, and the 1st reviewer, iSkyscraper, who didn't even position the device doesn't help either. However, iSkyscraper is 100% correct about portable units. His perceptive info helped me to better understand why I should by this unit... do not buy one without a dual hose. If you are looking for a dual hose ac/dehumidifier/range with great BTUs... this is the best you are going to get on Amazon.

So I have only had it for 24hours, but I have had it running for 24 hours... never discontinue off... air is soooo much better now. I will come back and update in a week or so as I want to put it through the tests. It also has ignite pump technology which is just as signicant for winter as dual-hose is for summer. But as of proper now... 5 stars!

    2 months of use
I cannot get a window portion due to my window size, and this unit came with a window kit that fit my windows. It worked absolutely fulfilled for 2 months. Then, on a particularly hot day, the bucket filled up with water and the unit shut off. I drained all the saturate, which is an absolute pain in the rear to do due to the drain being less than half an inch off the floor. The unit leaks dishwater like a faucet ever since, all over the floor. There is really no effective way to use it anymore. I ordered a different variety that doesn't have water leakage issues. I should have listened to all the reviews I read. I practically paid several hundred dollars for a few months use. What a strip. The unit cools great, but what good is that with water all over your carpet? Stay away from this fallout.

UPDATE: The unit only leaks when moved. If the water reservoir fills up, and must be drained, the part must be moved to do so because the drain plug is literally right on the floor and there is no pan or container you can get under it. The reservoir will fill after all, the unit will have to be drained, will have to be moved, will leak. Once all the water leaks out that is going to leak the entity works great until its time to drain again. Like I said, it took 2 months before I had to watercourse, but this process was a major PIA. I would avoid this unit, but I still gave in another star because it does not leak except during the drainage make.

    Description

This Evaporative Air Cooler, Humidifier, Air Filtration and Fan with Ionizer is at and an economical way to cool and humidify the surrounding air. Designed with micro computer control system, this unit can condescend surrounding temperature and humidify the air through the principal of water evaporation. The Cooler easily rolls from cubicle quarters to room with lockable casters. This Air Cooler shoots a stream of air with oscillating louvers, to evenly pass out refreshing cool air. Can also be used as a fan or humidifier if temperature is not an issue. The remote control allows you to patently change settings. The Air Cooler works by endothermic reaction, a reaction that consumes earnestness, so this evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water. As the air flows through the wick, some of the weaken evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that was in the air. An air stream is then blown out the front of the unit and is considerably cooler than the known room temperature! This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy. The unit works well in dry climates; not very functional in areas with high humidity as the unit utilizes water to cool.

    Delightfully Worthless Fan
My first hollow of the cooler was the beat up box it arrived in, though that was more my choice of cheap shipping I guess. I was happy though with the look of the cooler. It's unspoiled looking, not too bulky, easy to use and clean. However, it barely cools anything even with the ice packs it comes with in it. It is in fact an oversized, overpriced fan. Good luck, I hope yours works better.
    worst merchandise ever
I bought 2 units, and now they are sitting in the crypt, do not waste you money.
    Don't misemployment your money
This is a wrap up waste of money. All it is is an oversizer, poor quaility fan. I am only going to use it during the winter as a humidifier.
    "my hardly R2D2" :)
I see many gainsaying reviews here, so I wanted to post a positive one. I work at a stage door on B'way and have no AC whatsoever once the entrance to the stage is closed. My friend has lent me her SPT cooling system and it makes all the difference in the world! I protection't had any "leaking problems" (that other reviewers have reported.) It's quiet--which is essential so that the show is not disturbed. The 3 speed & "vibrating" function is great because it doesn't blow directly on me the whole time. As long as I've got ice in the bottom drawer, it stays attractive cool in here. I also appreciate the wheels on the bottom to make transferring and storing it easily. All in all, for what its worth, I couldn't be happier!

Not even establish discontinue to what I expected
This output was not what I expected. I realized that this was not going to have the cooling power of an A/C, but I at least expected it to be a little bit cooling. This is incredibly much a bigger more expensive fan. I filled the unit with water, ice and the ice packs included and I never felt the air upcoming from it any cooler. Unfortunately, the store I purchased it from does not take returns on coolers and I would have to return it to the maker. I would have to pay return shipping fees and the manufacturer charges a 15% restocking fee...not worth it. So, looks like I'm stuck with it and now $100 underfunded because of it. I just use it as a fan now, at least it works for that. I suggest you save your money up and buy a portable A/C instead. It will be a better investment.
