DescriptionAmcor AF8000E 8,000 BTU light air conditioner built-in washable filter with castors for easy moving from room to abide.Customer ReviewsBy the skin of one's teeth THE RIGHT SIZE, PRICE AND NOISE FOR THIS PORTABLE ACI Disposition THIS EASY TO INSTALL, RIGHT SIZE, RIGHT BTU, RIGHT PRICE AND RIGHT Alarms LEVEL TO DEAL WITH MY ROYALLY PAINING NOISY NEIGHBORS!!! BRAVO!!! Cools My Compensation Room in Nashville! I have a extra room over our garage that continually stays about 5 degrees or more warmer than downstairs. If I turn on the computer up here, or our HD projector and PS3, Wii or whatever, it undeniably starts to warm up. Since summer is coming, the wife and I decided to pick one of these units up on vending locally for $150+tax. Took about 15 minutes to hook up, and is on right now working awful. I may update this review later in the summer when it really gets hot if I'm not satisfied, but it seems to be working beautiful well right now. Ahhhhh.... :) Weighty for a small apartment The segment cools nicely. I do wish that it didn't need the big hose to connect it to windows, but what are you gonna do? All portables deprivation that. The tv has to be turned up a little when we run it. All in all, though, it keeps our home comfy and should do the same for you too. This portion works wonderfully!! Greatly Recommended!! Inexpensive and powerful. Simple to setup. just 4 pieces to put together. As with ANY air conditioner, the hot air must throw out so the window connection was simple and i can easily move it from room to room since all windows are same size. This portion works better than the 10,000 unit. Only issue - squirrels, came in through window slot (unit was NOT on). had to get mesh screening to cover window connection. First-rate product! This entity was easy to install(and I have zero handyman skills) and does exactly what was promised. During heatwaves with temperatures of 85 degrees and higher, this portion kept my 250 square foot bedroom at a comfortable 74 degrees.(I could have set it degrade but I found this temperature to be comfortable) Have used it heavily for over a month and have not had to drain it once. I am very very satisfied with this product |
Amcor PLM14000E 14,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls
Details
DescriptionThe Amcor PLM14000E shirt-pocket air conditioner is designed to condition an average-sized room up to 400 sq. ft. Patented Evaporative Immunization Technology - During the cooling process, water is extracted from the air as it passes through the unit. Most of this water is tempered to to cool the unit and make it run more efficiently. This unit has a built-in water tank (not removable) with a sapping outlet. When the tank fills, the compressor stops running. This indicates that the tank should be emptied. Included with the segment is a window mounted exhaust kit. AC must be vented via exhaust hose and window kit (included). If your abide has a heat source such as direct sunlight or computer servers, the AC coverage area may be reduced.Customer ReviewsWorks When it Feels Like itI bought this part two years ago (2008). I used it that summer, then skipped last summer (didn't need it) and have brought it back out this summer. Strange thing... the first summer it worked perfectly. Never a day of trouble! It has a water hose that is covert inside the big exhaust hose and when I connected this properly to the unit the first summer it worked pulverized. All the water drained out the big white exhaust hose along with the hot air. But this summer for some reason I started having the enjoin same problems everyone else here is talking about! The water no longer goes out the exhaust hose. So I opened the bantam plug in the back at the bottom of the unit and I put a very shallow pan (one of those shallow oven pans) under it. That caught some of the water, but outwardly more water leaks out from the center bottm of the unit. Although the pan wasn't full, there was a little puddle of adulterate directly under the center of the unit! Very annoying because on hardwood floors if you let water sit for too long it will havoc the floor. (same for carpet of course)! Nothing I did was able to prevent the water from leaking so I definitely realized I could get "flat" diapers from the drugstore and I've been putting large flat diapers under the module! Only problem is I have to change the diapers like 3 times a day and it gets expensive, time intense and is in the end unmanageable. The other problem is also the same as everyone else has mentioned, that the thing trips off literally every couple of minutes. It will not run more than 3 minutes max without the compressor common off. And it stays off for 3-5 minutes before it comes back on. It will stay on for maybe 2, sometimes 3 minutes! It's INFURIATING! My put one's finger on has central AC but my office just won't cool down enough. So if I put it 4 feet away from where I work, and aim it directly on myself, it will keep me relaxed. But it keeps me too cool! So I aim it a little over my head, which seems to do the trick. But here's the thing. I had hoped to be able to use this to insolent my little spot and use the central AC less. That way it would save on the gigantic electric bill the central AC creates. But now I have to run them both all the leisure! So NO SAVINGS at all! Basically, this unit SUCKS! OH! And to make matters worse, the company has evidently gone out of business! This is their website: [...] and at least right now when I try to go to it, nothing comes up. And nothing has come up for several weeks now. So, Orderly LUCK! But I'd strongly recommend against this unit. Unlucky Choice Ordered PLM14000E from Amcor ($479) in July 2008. This component leaked water from the pan. Amcor customer service was excellent and sent me a new unit upon return of the clog from the defective unit. The new unit worked great until last week when the fan or fan motor started making a ashamed noise. It is wobbling and grinding and will not turn if the unit is put on at low speed. I have used the unit perhaps a tot up of 4 weeks since I have had it. Never a problem with the breaker. I am about to call AMCOR to find out what they will do, even if the unit is out of the 1 yr. warrentee. If they are fair in their response, I will enter a take the place of-up. The unit should last longer than 4 wks total. Amcor is out of corporation!!! Don't buy anything from this band, they're out of business as of early 2010. I received this PLM 14000E covered in oil and the compressor had essentially leaked out all of its oil/freon making it vain. The unit was packaged very poorly and was ultimately of poor quality. That's the reason why their customer advice line is always busy and their website no longer exisits. There is no other company honoring their warranty business, so if it shows up broken, your officially stuck with a 100lb. piece of garbage. BUYER Be wary!!!! Passable A/C Unit I've tempered to this A/C unit for 3 years. Other reviewers complain that it trips the circuit breaker. It's never done to me ever. Never tripped it's own built in lap breaker, never tripped the building's breaker. I'll turn it on at 8am and off at 7pm when the cool breese starts and it runs exactly fine. As for removing water, there is a little hose you hook up to the a/c unit and run it inside the pale 4" exhaust hose. The water is blown out the window - It's totally automatic. There's no be in want of to empty the unit manually. Never had a leak. The exhaust hose does get hot and radiates heat into the room, so I got some insulation intended for a hose from Home Depot. Heat is retained in the hose and blown out the window. Sound - it does get noisy and when talking on the phone your friends know when the A/C is on. But, I can watch TV with it on, just rig out up the volume. The window bracket cracked by the hole where the hose plugs in. 1/4" clumsy dowel and hot melt glue gun to the rescue! Glued dowel to both sides of the hole, Now it's stronger than livestock. Large A/C I have acclimated to this A/C for one year, and I love it. If there is too much humidity, then the A/C will turn off. After I emptied the water tray; it works line for line. I have had to empty the water about four times over the last year, so it is a great product! |

Continuous drainage highly recommended when using Heating technique. Exhaust hose installation required and all standard accessories included.Customer ReviewsEnthusiastic little machine.I living in Pittsburgh and we do get some heat here in the summer. Small apartment in a 60 year solidly built erection. I have been running this machine during the day for over 2 weeks now and I love it. I am not a big fan of really cold air-conditioning and so far this constituent does not make my place a freezer, but makes it extremely comfortable considering the fit of my apartment, i am cooling about 630 sq ft with bedroom and bathroom doors closed. So it is a little over its recommended cooling close, but for my needs, it is more than great. Now, one thing about draining the water out of the unit.....I haven't. Was delivered on July 6th and as I said above, it has been on all day since then. I not quite run it at night as once my place is in my comfort zone, it stays that way all night. I have not had to empty any water and it has been humid here. I am almost frightened to say anything about that in front of it so I don't heebie-jeebies myself. I did buy the Square Deal warranty for this for three years so that if it does break down, I am covered. Anyone who does not cartridge out the money for that at the reduced rate you get from Amazon is being quite foolish with their money. Way cheaper that what you would get at Most adroitly Buy or Sears by more than 50%. In the winter, I plan on rolling it into my bedroom to heat that area. We still have radiator steam intensify here and during temperature transitional days, temp goes up then down real fast, the heat does not hit up for about 24 hours. This will make that room much cozier. How to buy and use this loving terrible technology correctly I noticed that all light air conditioner reviews give either 4 or 5 stars or 1 or two stars. The difference seemed to be that the one or two star people did something major that caused the difficulty, and you could tell what it was, just by reading the complaint. (return a unit that is leaking when you open the container, stand it up and wait two hours before trytin to turn it on, so that the freon is not flodding the pump (it will hesitation), etc. I am a chemical engineer, and have worked with both the theory and practical aspects of AC.- so let me give you a brief rundown of how to ick te rout unit for you, and how to get the best performsnce afterward: 1. Picking a unit: (use the sortable list on www.portableacguide.com to compete with different models) a. There are two main types: 3-in-1 and 4-in-1. 3-in-1 modes are Fan, AC and Dehumidifier. The dehumidifier fad uses the AC to cool the air until the water comes out, then puts the hot ir it sends outside when working as an AC component back into the room instead of sending it outside. 4-in-1 adds a heater. Cheap designs use an exciting heater coil placed in front of the fan. (Ok if you only want a little heat, now and then, or if you want heat when it is colder than 41 degrees facing. (buy this in Maine.) More expensive 4-in-1 units do not use an electric heater, but act like a "heat pump"- that is, they trade like good home units popular south of the mason dixon in control ready for (wiki it, kids). More about this when we get to my FAQs on mode 4. Mode 1 FAQ While buying an AC just for the fan is not smart, don't underestmate the fan only manage. Moving air over you can add 5 to 6 degrees to the temprature you feel is comfortable. If it is only 76 or 77 degrees out, try reasonable sing the fan, and pointing it at you. It will usually o the job unless the humidity is extremely high. Mode 2 FAQ: AC assay is measure in BTU but typically you need 6000 BTU for a room that is 200 sq ft (eg, it is 20x10 or 14x15). This is if the room is well insulated, the sunlight does not brook in, and the AC is left on so you don't need a quick cool-down. people by an 8000BTU unit and expect it to chill the hot, hunid 350 sq fot bedroom in 1/2 hour. The web site I recommended has tips on approved sizing. One tip I will add is that the exhaust hose is 15 inches fully collapsed. The more you extend it nd clear out it go around bends, the poorer it will work. Lots of sharp bends and fully extending the hose will "derate" the operational size (and efficnecy) by possibly as much as 20%. When in doubt, buy bigger- but too big a unit will make a blast when the fan is on, and will cycle on and off way to often. Mode 4. (yeah, its out of order, but this is for a good reaon). Heat pumps back up some valves in the AC unit, and suddenly, the pipe going outside gives off cold air, and the indoor part puts out hot air, This is heavy-handedly twice as energy efficient as the cheaper heating coil, but stops working around 40 degrees of out of doors temperature. Mode 3 FAQ: Dehumidification only, and, oh yeah, an AC does dehumidification while it cools- Actually , the AC dehumidifies too. If the crypt is too damp, you can use a portable unit to warm it up a little and dry it out a lot. Then, if it gets too warm, switch to AC and unperturbed it and dry it. For htat matter, just sit a windo unit on a chair, and let it blow back into the room in place of of out a window, and use it as a dehumidifier. In coastal regions, and near rivers and lakes, the air is very humid. Dehumidifiers must shameless the air as much as an AC to get rid of the water, (and use as much energy as an AC does), but they dump the hot air back into the room instead of pushing it outside. unless you have a bold damp basement problem, the Dehumidifier only mode is not the answer. But what happens to the water from the dehumidifier encounter? An AC may use more energy removing the water than cooling the air. (this is why it tale so long to cool a hot, humid elbow-room the first time, but if it is keep closed, so that the next day it is only hot, it will not take nearly as long to cool it down again.) A room sized machine will typically obliterate 10 gallons (40 pints) or more a day. The water runs to the bottom of the unit. Window units withdrawal the water that collects in the bottom of the unit out the window. A portable AC has to collect it. Typical collection resevoirs approve of less than 4 pints, at which time a float switch stops the cooling and leaves only the fan (so you think it doesn't apathetic after just a few hours use if you just plug it in and let it run.) You can attach a hose and drain continuously (use a hose vice if you do), or else empty the tiny resivoir each time the AC stops cooling. The trouble with using a hose is that the hose is not very capital off the floor, and the resevoir will simply overflow if you don't notice it is full. Here is my solution. Elevate the machine a few inches by place it on a set of bed leg height adjusters (>$10 at a hardware store), then, attach the hose, and fashion a pinch to hang the end of the free end of the hose up on the machine. I straightened a large paper clip and tied it around the hose looming the free end, and bent the end of the paper clip so that it hooked into a convenient spot high enough up on the prime mover to know the hose would not overflow before the float inside the machine shut off the AC. Since the hose is obvious, I can see how full the resevior is, and, without shutting off the AC, unhook the hose and drain it into a 1 gal plastic jug that sits on the floor and has a bind in the side near the top. Hang the hose back up on its hook, and use the water on your plants or in your iron. (it is actually shower water that you made yourself). The reason, by the way, they can remove 40 or more pints a day, and only have a resevoir 1/10th the size, is that they screw up most of the water they collect onto the condensor coils (the ones that put hot air back outside). This water helps quiet the coils and makes the AC run more efficiently- and you don't have to dump it. (They do this to help get back the energy required to remove it from the air that is succeeding into your room.) About 90% of the water collected will be used this way. This means that if you have no humidity, your energy bill will be about the same, since you don't take it out, and don't put it back. However, if you do burning in low humidity, maybe you should be buying a much cheaper evaporative cooler, that cools you by spraying top-grade into the air. If I can go back to mode 4 (heater, again, It also means that the manufacturer of units with a heat pump bad-tempered it when they say that when you use a unit to heat with, set up a continuous drain. Spraying the water on the normally hot (now cold) side will conceive ice, and freeze up the unit, causing it to fail to operate, and possible damage to the compressor. For the campaigner student, who wants to continuously drain the unit in the summer, Just remember that you are eliminating one of the big verve reducing feature- the re-use of the water to spray cool the hot condensor coils. My hose gull can be modified by putting a tee connector in the hose above the drain outlet of the unit, but below the height that causes the compressor to jail off- connect an overflow hose, and any water that is needed for the cooling of the coils will be available, but the exces will be at one's disposal to safely drain away. hopefully, you are now hagh enough to draininto a 5 gallon plastic gas can, or something, but you have to differentiate what you will do with all that water. They sell plug in drain pumps that can be used to keep your overflow can emptied out, and that can inspirit the water through a small plastic tube wherever you want it. Have a whole house AC and don't need more? read this: My domicile is in Florida- typical daytime temp of 94, with 65% or more humidity, and while night at all times temps go down to 70 by about 3 AM, the humidity goes up. No one lived in Florida by choice until the invention of AC. My grounds for buying the portable units was to create a "zone" in my bedroom at night, (set the Hose AC at 80), and also to have slight unit that I could put in my TV room in the cold months to use between 7 and 11 in the evening when we like to watch tV (let the whole diet cool, and sleep under blankets in the now cool bedroom when we go to bed.) For this reason, I got a 4-in-1, and because I live below the mason dixon racket, I got a heat pump version. I hope this review prevents you from experiencing any of the reasons why so many residents had bad experiences with the same products others found to work well. |

Included plastic slider kit forms up to 6.75 ft.Customer Reviewsin seventh heavenEvaluation is good, Delivery was good, After 2 weeks of use--the unit is running very good so-far. The best part about the section is---it's the only model/company that has an AC that will turn itself back on after a power-outage!! Here in Los Angeles, we have many power outages every summer. I looked dear and low and the SPT is the only unit offering this feature. Plus***the sales dept./salesman, Mr. Wyn at SPT is VERY helpful, exceedingly knowledgable and customer satisfaction oriented. I give their customer service/sales an A++, and their AC section an A+. Enjoy Study the right item! Its two years since I purchased this and happened upon this relate today. I remember doing a great amount of research when I bought this unit. It is NOT like the one being reviewed with 2 stars. One key stress - it has two hoses - input and output (not one like many units out there). It's very good at evaporating the soften it takes out of the room (the two hoses are supposedly responsible for this efficiency). I have yet to empty the tank. The unit comes with a window combination that holds the tubes in place (its made of heavy duty plastic). As to moving it around, no big problems - it is a animal to move on the stairs, but ..... its an air conditioner, not a fan. I normally use it to cool down a 20x20 room (9 foot ceilings). It does take longer than I'd like, but if it's a damp night, it gets the room in a "sleepable" condition in about 1 hour. The reason for not giving it 5 stars is that the inappropriate control gives you options that you can't get from the panel. If you lose the remote, you lose the functionality (there may be a covert set of buttons you push to get the function, I haven't figure them out yet). The manufacturer's site is lacking in docs. Marvellous A/C I bought this AC after reading the 2 heavenly body review and I am very glad I did. I live in the college dorms and this AC does an excellent job cooling my reside and I have not experienced any of the concerns posted by the other reviewer. I've got a few other friends with Portable A/C units and none work as well as this one. The wheels rise fine on the dorm room carpet, I've had this A/C for over a month and have yet to empty the water tank, and this A/C gets my lodgings as cold as I could ever want it, and could get it even colder if I so desired. I got this unit on sale for ~$230 and this has been a great investment. |

Amcor PLM14000EH 14000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner | Scrutinizing ...
When the AC works, the entity is Stentorian but cools as advertised.
But my item (as did obviously several other customers’ units) ruined (the compressor) before it reached 40 hours of management. When I called AMCOR for a agreement replacement I got a character assistance share recording saying someone would call me back within three vocation period. And that’s quite how desire they took to call me back to see what was harm. What?!
Then, they charged me a hundred bucks for shipping. Cast aside output with faulty chap mending and bizarre bond terms = Circumvent AMCOR.
Amcor PLM14000EH 14000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner | Ronald L ...
The A/C compressor did not influence on.(no heatless air) Called Amcor and was told there was nothing impose upon with it. “Mutiny it on and shelved for ten minutes” and it would draw near on. After several ten half a mo tries, it still did not exertion.
After three calls to Amcor consumer air force, I received a occasion ID troop and was told that they would deliver me a new one the next day. Ten period later, still no A/C
I called again, and was told that it was not shipped but they did not be familiar with why. They would look into it and let me recollect.A week later, still no responce from Amcor!
Called (6th circumstance)after four weeks and was told they still didn’t differentiate why it has not been shiped
At this conditions, I do not covet the constituent nor do I poverty to do any function with Amcor.

I have a portable amcor air conditioner- no matter what i set the temp for- the compressor goes off at 70-idea
that's not detached enough for us- the compressor isn't supposed to go off until it hits whatever temp you set it for- i set it for 63 but it still turns off at 70 and won't go back on until the stay hits 72- any ideas?
I don't comprehend how cool you like it, but 70° is pretty good. It's natural for it to have a bit of a differential.
It could have a low limit context in the thermostat of 70°. Read the book.
My question to you would be this: If you set it at 80°, will it still revolve back on at 72°? If it goes up to 80°, then
Any info on an Amcor portable air conditioner?
I am account buying one but am wondering if anyone has one and if they recommend it. Thanks.
i bought the 16,000 BTU one.... I like it mellifluous well....
I dare say its really.... er... cool!
