Helpful Design, But Just Doesn't Work
Most air conditioners are incredibly surly, but I loved the design of this Danby AC. It has a lot of nice touches, like a little form-fitting cutout for the far-away when you're not using it. It's pretty energy-efficient for a portable, and I was totally psyched when I bought it. . . except for the details that it didn't cool my room worth a damn.
At 7000 BTU, this AC is rated to cool 250 four-sided feet, and I was using it in a 190 square foot room, so I thought it'd be more than enough. Instead, it was only adept to cool the room by about 3-4 degrees even after running all night. In fact, when I woke up in the morning it was in reality cooler outside than it was inside the room where I'd been running the AC at full blast. Geez, Louise!
I returned this section and replaced it with a 6000 BTU window unit by Frigidaire. Even though the Frigidaire is smaller, it's much quieter and was skilled to cool my fairly small bedroom from 100+ and humid (we're in the middle of a major stress wave in the Northeast right now) to about 72 degrees in about 90 minutes.
I had a portable AC by Maytag that lasted about 7 years and worked very well, so I have knowledge of it's possible to make a portable that does the job, but this Danby was just nowhere near as good as it looks. I'd give it one leading, but the design is so much better than everything else out there that I'll throw them a star for that.

can't away the price
I extremely haven't had a chance to use the unit since it is still winter but i have tried it. as far as i can tell, it works great. it doesn't take up a great amount of space in my sunroom where it gets quite hot during the summer months. the only "complaint" i have was it's shipping. i was very responsible since there wasn't any padding. however, it doesn't look like anything was broken

Escape this Unit! Unreliable, died after 2 seaons
Died after 2 seasons on NO replacement parts! Nauseating customer service, terrible manual and when it did work, it had problems starting up the compressor often.

Cools Suitably
I bought this Danby Manageable Air Conditioner Model Number: DPAC120068 a couple of months ago from a different supplier. I use it in my bedroom and have the shelf of my apartment unairconditioned. It gets up to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and my room stays unsympathetic at 73 degrees.
Dual Hose feature appealed to me so that no negative pressure is created bringing in hot air into to the chamber from outside. It was easy to install with everything needed included in the box except foam insulation standard for AC window units. I did not have to rehearsal any holes into the window sill which is required for window units.
I was disappointed that the unit still uses the old refrigerant R22, which means I will not be proficient to service the unit myself. The unit knocks a little when it first starts up but quickly quiets down. I do not understand if this is normal. The knocking is irritating but it has not woken me up or kept me from sleeping. The water tank can and will fill up at clammy times when the external coils cannot evaporate such a large amount of water. Luckily it is a very large tank and will take a great time time to fill.
Overall, I am happy with this unit. There is a remote control which I have no use for. If the power should go off for more than a few minutes, Danby says that it will fail all settings, so do not be surprised if you come home from work to a hot room.
I am giving 3 stars out of 5 because of the old R22 refrigerant, be without of memory for power interruptions, and brief knocking.

Dont leavings your money
This memo is a piece of junk! Cheap parts and poor construction make it a nightmare to serve and a problem waiting to happen. Within first month the thermostat stopped working. It will barely refreshing 400 SQ. Ft..and it is way too noisy. Customer service is very poor as well. Stay away from this turkey. If you buy it don't be deprived of your receipt. You will need it.

Could be cooler but a great unit.
I had this segment for 2 years now is it works fine even running this unit for 3 days straight without shutting it off. It is very well construct compared to a Royal Sovereign 13,500 BTU unit that I also have. Both units pump out cool air, but the only aim this unit did not receive 5 stars is that it can barely keep up with a 400 sq ' room that gets direct sunlight. I would buy again if the toll ever drops below $420 delivered..

Your focal portable air conditioner
I indigence to give the device 3.5 stars, but I cannot so I'll give it 3 stars for being average. I have owned this device for 9 months now, and have employed it for probably 2, and just started using it again this year. I'm not really sure how powerful it is compared to other portable machines, but it does make a great cooling fan, and it cools a unimaginative room well. The main reason I bought it to help me stay cool when I do my elliptical gadget workout, and on that front, it works perfectly. The backlit display is nice, and the machine is probably "standard in the main" for noise level. The hoses are good quality, flexible and you can put the hoses vertically or horizontally which is extraordinarily nice, and while I haven't really used it, the remote control with an LCD is a plus. The coasters on the item make it pretty easy to move around, and it feels very solid in build quality.
I'm not sure how big the unit will last, but if I get at least 4 years of use out of it (I paid about $400), that's roughly $100 per year and I'd give the device 4 stars at that notion. From others I have spoken to, you can expect to get 5 years usage, tops out of most portable air conditioners.
No complaints so far...

Cooling temperature
Since most compact units are less efficient than a window unit I recommend getting one rated larger than what you indeed need, especially if you have a computer or TV in the room. For a 234 sq ft room (18' x 13')I got one rated at 450-500 sq ft. I would say getting one rated for at least 100 sq ft more than the extent size can't hurt. This did not cause the unit to cycle on and off constantly as an oversize window segment would.
The temperature of the air comming out of the unit was 59 degrees. The temperature at the far end of the room was reading about 7 degrees higher than the 70 degrees I had it set for. The digital temp basis on the unit itself will reach its setting and turn the compressor off long before the entire room is at that temperature because of its vicinity to the unit itself, not that the gauge is giving false readings, it wasn't, I checked.
This was at low fan speed, turning the fan make haste to medium dropped the difference down to about 5 degrees and using high to about 3 degrees.
This was during the hottest part of the day, at evening the temperatures at the unit and across the room were almost the same. It took about 3 hours to go from 85 to 70 degrees (nearly the unit). The outside temperature was 90.
If you do not want to run the fan on high speed you can always turn the temperature backdrop several degrees lower and run it on medium.
I consided the noise level about the same as in a motel roon where the a/c entity is through the wall near the floor. The noise did not bother me. We ran this unit constantly for 2 days and a endlessly. I kept wondering when it would shut off due to the water tank being filled so I decided to hook up the perpetual drain option and simply drain the water into a plastic can behind it, about a foot high employment trash can.
When I undid the drain plug at the very bottom of the unit, just out of curiosity, no water came out. So I put the stuff back in and undid the continuous drain plug about 1/2 up the back of the unit and to my surprise about a shot drinking-glass worth of water came out.
I only gave this 4 stars because I would have liked it better if you could move the air levers spot on and left as well as just up and down.

Fully worth the money!!!
I discontinue into a complete diva when I am hot!!! Wherefore, I bought this unit about a month ago and I could not be more pleased!!! This prime mover cools practically my entire upstairs. Likewise, after about 3 weeks of running it basically non-discontinue, I finally emptied the water and it was barely even full. I assume it could be ran a few more months before it even needed dumped.
In regards to the racket quality, I do not find the unit to be all that loud. In fact, I think that my portable fan is more noisy than this unit. In other words, I am accomplished to sleep with it on high without any trouble. Additionally, in the afternoons, I may have to turn my television up a tiny bit more than typical in order to hear it.
Unfortunately, my place does not have separate a/c units for the 1st and 2nd levels. Therefore, I had to obtain this because the upstairs feels like a sauna without it. At the time, I could find a unit with 14,000 BTUs so I purchased this 12,000 one. If you are looking to chilled an entire floor, I would suggest upgrading to a 14,000 BTU unit because as I said earlier, this portion cools practically my entire upstairs. However, I believe a 14,000 BTU unit would do a much better job when it comes to reaching the far bedroom. Nonetheless, if you have a young upstairs, this unit would be perfect.
I gave this system 4 stars because my only complaint about the unit involves the window attachments. Unfortunately, the system comes ready for a sliding glass door but not for a window. Considering that I do not have a sliding glass door, I have had to rig mine to fit a window. (I am still in the process of making it vocation.) In short, the parts come with very tiny screws and no nuts. Wherefore, I suggest purchasing longer screws and some nuts to get hold of them with. Otherwise, the plastic pieces fall apart and it becomes a hassle to deal with. Likewise, unless you have a very narrowing window, you may need to saw the additional piece to fit two of them together. Otherwise, you will have a huge gap in your window because the piece is not long enough to dilate across. Other than the window attachments not being designed well, I would have to say that I am extremely happy with my purchase. In other words, anything is better than sitting in the hot up!!!

My first-rate purchase
I purchased this air conditioner (WA-1220M) three years ago and I can unreservedly say that it is the best purchase that I have made. The unit does wonders year-round.
I live in an cause to be in in northern MN, less than a mile from Lake Superior. The summer temperatures do not typically exceed the mid-80's to low 90's, but when you add merry humidity, it feels much hotter than the actual temperature. This unit does an AWESOME job at dehumidifying and it also cools my section to a comfortable temperature. It also has fan settings that I use year-round.
Unlike a previous rater, I have no problems with the window seal (I even have uncommonly length of the "foam" that they include).
The drain for the dehumidifier does use a flexible plastic tube and, while it may not be *notional*, I find that it works well. (I elevate my unit a couple of inches and have it continuously drain into a large cavity that I can then empty).
Although this unit is technically a portable unit, it is rather heavy. This is not a problem for me because I do not have to carry it up/down stairs on a familiar basis - the wheels help me move it from one location to another if I choose to switch things up, but I typically fitting keep it in my bedroom and find that it works well.
BOTTOM LINE: This product exceeded my expectations. Not only does it cool my set, it also dehumidifies amazingly!! It also has a fan that can be used year-round and an air filter that helps clean the air in my consign.

Do not buy from this convention
This circle makes products that are useless. Unfortunately I did not read the other reviews before purchasing from them but now am experiencing first supervision there shoddy workmanship, if you could even give them that. Used it for two days and worked ok, now just blows hot air. now I have to deal with all the hassle of returning, which I can all things considered only exchange it for another lemon. These products are a waste of money and given all the other negative feedback, this crowd should be reported to the better business bureau if they haven't already

Fan bearing going on a danby air conditioner how long wil it last?

Interested in getting a 12000 Danby familiar air condtioner. Makes a small amount of noise. Its a fan bearing that is making the bruit about. '
He want 75 for it. Is that okay? Runs fine. I checked it out...
If the fan relative position is going, it needs to be repaired ASAP. If it seizes you will very likely fire out the motor. I would start by bringing over some silicone lube spray and see if that will unhook up the bearing. If that works, it's worth the $75, but he may not want to sell it if you fix it.
