Economic AC Unit
My economize on and I are very satisfied with this AC unit. We bought this unit to replace a Frigidaire window unit that was becoming totally the rattler. This unit unit has been up and running now for about 2 weeks, and it's so much quieter than the Frigidaire. It cools our upstairs fetid, hot bedroom rather quickly. I had read some comments about this AC unit being noisy. I believe the key to quiet manoeuvre is proper installation. You must take your time and follow the installation instructions which are fairly simple to carry on. I would recommend the purchase of this AC unit.

Refrain from at all costs
I've reviewed this element elsewhere, but the summary is that the unit rattles like a freight train when it is running. It is not quiet at all. There is sick value to be had for less money.

Windowless and quiet when properly installed (which can be tricky)
Establishment was tricky, in large part because my bedroom has a vinyl replacement window with a ridge in the middle of the sill. I had to play it by ear by clamping a 2x3 to the ridge to give the unit an inner sill to rest on. I also had to modify (bend, cut) the outer stomach brackets to make them rest on a very shallow outer sill. Luckily, with the slide-out chassis, I only had to dole out with the weight of the frame while making these adjustments. Be sure to download and read the manual/placement instructions from the Friedrich website before buying. Once installed securely, the unit works well. On the heart fan setting it's fairly quiet from inside, though there is a bit of a thump when the compressor cycles on or off. From outside, on the same environs, I have difficulty hearing the unit unless I'm within 15 feet. The thermostat works well on the Cold-hearted and Money Saver modes, and I really like the Dry (dehumidifier) mode which defaults to the lowest fan setting and cycles...
