    HVAC technicians - Carrier humidifier filter question?

    I have a Carrier Weathermaker infinity gas wood stove with an attached Carrier humidifier. It's a HUMCCLBP18, the kind that requires no power to run.
    It good used the principle of evaporation to work.
    My Question - on the replacement sieve one end has some white cloth material. I assume this is to soak some of the water that is injected

    The end with the deathly white cloth material is a wick of sorts and goes on the end that the water first makes speak to with, it helps spread the water evenly down the water panel.

    i have a carrier Humidifier(maquette 49sw series) attached to my furnace and unfortunately the past owners did not deal with to the unit. i have replaced the filter pad,drain tube, etc. Now i have eliminated the emotionally upset all down to one. i turn on the water flow and the pan fills up but it never stops. i have adjusted the swing arm and it still
