Not a Lakewood fan!
I have Lakewood 9" euphoric velocity fans. This fan here is a poor excuse, not manufactured by Lakewood, that puts out on high speed what my Lakewood fan does on low.

Outstanding fan!
I don't hand down reviews very often, but I really love these fans. I've had two of these bad boys for four years now, and they are still going strong. In the summer months I use them unceasingly, around the clock, and they've never given me a single problem. The high speed is a little on the loud side, but it is remarkably impressive given its size. The low speed is much quieter and can still be felt from across a bedroom. It's been a hot summer in Chicago this year, and with no A/C, I've extraordinarily come to depend on these fans. Highly recommended.

OK but not the finery
I have another Lakewood 9 inch fan I must have bought 5 years ago and even as old as it is I would give it 5 stars today. I gave this new one only 3 stars because the prominence is just not as good and it is so much louder. It does the job OK and I will keep it but if I could find an old one like the one I have had so long I'd buy it & sell this new one in a garage jumble sale. My guess the difference is made in USA & China....

Genuine fly Chopper
I made a gaffe this Is Not the model I bought the model I bought Is the 1016 Silver Metallic. I see these are back In stock, they are very stock fly choppers I have one In My shower stall and do a fairly good job at getting rid of flies but If You have a very bad problem with flies You may have to get some fly rag and Permethrin or Cyper WP which Is also good for getting rid of ticks. This fly chopper Is noisier than than the Honeywell but I about Its more powerful and I left It running all summer but the Honeywell No more works and this fly chopper Is easier to mount to the fortification.

They do not send you a Lakewood fan. The fan I received had a scurvy face and was not the one in the picture. It took far too long to get them to send a label to send it back. If you want this Lakewood Fan, I do not urge ordering it here!

Update - 8/2010: Two years ago, I wrote the inspect that is posted below. Today I noticed that the fan being sold is not the same fan. I don't know anything about the High Velocity fan that is being sold now.

Approx. 10 years ago, we purchased a Lakewood 18" costly velocity fan similar to this one . It's still working and my favorite fan ever! For about 3 years now, I've wanted to add a second one to our home; I was powerless to find one in the stores I frequently shop in, so I decided to do an online search. I was relieved to find that this fan is still being manufactured. This fan moves a elephantine amount of air, has 3 settings - high, medium, and low. Over the past 40 years, we've owned several fans. None of them come close-knit to providing the air circulation that this one provides. We use this fan for various reasons throughout the seasons. In the summer, we set our air conditioning at 78 degrees to redeem money, and use this fan to circulate the cool air. What can I say? I'm a 'fan' of Lakewood's high velocity fan.
Update:
I just rec'd the new model Lakewood 18" HV fan. It is much louder than the one we've been using for the days 10 years. So, if you're looking for a quiet fan, you probably wouldn't want to order this one.
UPDATE: We've been using this fan for 2 years now. It is not constructed as nicely as the older Lakewood drugged velocity fan that we've used for over 12 years now. It fell over, onto its front "cage" on our concrete crypt floor, and the welds broke loose. I fixed it by wiring the front cage to the back cage & it works consummately...just isn't constructed as sturdily as our old one. However, it's a metal fan, not plastic & I think that's a plus.
I would give this fan 3 stars for house.
