    Pleasant at Last
I have a one bedroom site with an unheated bathroom. This small heater fits in perfectly, heats this space (and more) easily, right away efficiently and safely. This was an ideal solution for me. Thank you. David Shemariah
    A terrific fan
For the rate this is the perfect fan for us. It is space conservative yet serves the purpose for which it was bought. Quiet sounded.
    4 units, 4 bad thermostats
I'd tried fair about every space heater in this price range. None of them had a thermostat that would go to the set temperature the second time. (A thermostat, once set, should fervour to about the same temperature every time.) Because a reviewer said the thermostat on this unit was good, I purchased one. The scope to heat was my bathroom, about 80 sq ft, no windows, door closed, interior location in another place from outer walls. It took a LOT of patience to arrive at the initial preferred setting--80 degrees after turned on about one hour. After that, the following time the unit was turned on for an hour, temps ranged from 72 degrees to 90 (it might have gone higher had I not imprison it off.) An obliging local retailer allowed me to try four units in turn. None had a better thermostat. I surmise the different Chinese heater manufacturers source the same thermostats. I rate it one star because space heaters without thermostats are at one's disposal for less, and it is very noisy. (Please don't tell me how...

    Stoneware Safety Furnace
Superb Marketing's NTK15A electric ceramic heater is great for heating small spaces (up to 200 on equal terms feet) inexpensively, or for providing local heat that allows you to turn down your building's thermostat. This range is especially efficient, heating 99 percent of the air intake to give you 5,200 Btu or instant stimulation at just 1,500 watts. In addition, the automatic thermostat cuts off the heat at the desired temperature. It's bona fide, too: it includes a tip-over switch that cuts power when the unit is upended. The PTC heating element works at 200 degrees F, so it's not hot enough to ignite assignment, carpet, or other flammable materials.--Josh Dettweiler

Five Tips for Buying a Heater
Choosing a space heater is a matter of sifting through a bewildering assemble of types, power ratings, and fuel sources. Let's break it down a little to make the approach easier.

What are the different types of space heaters?

    • Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the adjacent air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a radiant heater is fixed and will use very little power.
    • Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or ceramic heating elements. A stilted-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but can be shrill.
    • Convection heaters draw cold air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the oven. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized cell, but also can be noisy.
    • Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the adjoining air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--holy for bedrooms.

Should I buy an electric or a combustion model?
If you want a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can zeal areas larger than a single room, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or tinder like propane, kerosene, natural gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends by on convenience and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips.

How intense a heater do I need?
Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to torridness one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need:

    • Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying solid footage by height.
    • Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's high-mindedness.
The resulting number is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.

Do space heaters cost a lot to operate?
As a general preclude, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy efficiency, a thermostat is a must-have act for any heater. For radiant heaters, models with a 360 degree heating surface can heat larger spaces. If you necessary a forced-air heater, models with ceramic elements tend to be more efficient.

Are space heaters a fire hazard?
Space heaters are implicated in about 25,000 residential fires every year. To safeguard proper safety, always follow the manufacturer's usage instructions and fill out the warranty card to acquire informational updates from the manufacturer. Also, look for extra safety features such as an automatic shutoff beat that can shut down the unit if, for example, it gets upended. In addition, choose a model where the heating essentials is adequately enclosed within the unit.

Holmes HFH105 1500-Watt Portable Electric Space Heater

I bought this last year at Easter so my spouse could delay furious during the storm. I tolerant of it the prop of the well-spring, then this lag I stuck it in the bathroom so I could stop near to making a discovery without turning up the oven.

At first, it would run if I formerly larboard it in the high-pitched, or low milieu, but no temperature file. Now, it won’t even give back on. I bought it at Bed, Tub, and Beyond, so I paid more than Amazon’s prize, but I wouldn’t buy this copy again.

I have employed these inadequate heaters in my bathroom for years…Ive tried Pelonis, Holmes and Honeywell…My fondness is Pelonis unfortunately I cannot find them anymore..The Pelonis stove-top has worked for years but only because I’ve infatuated larger punctiliousness of it than I did the Holmes range.. TIP ***Use your blast c enlarge dryer to mess up out lint often and a very yearn shape brake to keep vents confident of lint…..This will remedy oil-burning stove to have a much longer soul …I found that on all of the above label heaters, they will cease off when using HI Vehemence setting but on ambience locale they will run for hours and waken will rush into the next flat…In the winter mine will leftovers on for hours providing low-cost amiableness*****Assign trustworthy lint does not develop intensify up and they are well ventillated****

Can the on/off switch of an oil-filled space heater be replaced?

It's a Pelonis wood stove that I've had for about 3 years. It suddenly stopped working and now I can turn the knob to deliver up it on but the light doesn't come on and it doesn't heat up. I also don't know how to safely motivate of this unit now either. I never considered that when I purchased it but I hope other people will before they buy one. Eventually

The shift is not in contact with the oil. It is usually accessible from the outside if you have the right tools and the title skills. If you remove it and bring it to a hardware store you can get a replacement that you can set up (if you have those skills).

Unfortunately many products are built in a way that makes them cheap to set up

how much does it cost to run an electric space heater?

I have a little Pelonis ceramic heater and was wondering how much it costs to run it.

Alot. It's like a toaster with a fan. If you pay 10 cents a kilowatt hour, and it's 1000 watts (one kilowatt) It payout 10 cents an hour, or 2.40 a day, or 75 bucks a month.
